Manifesto

We live in a world constructed by fragments.  Everyday that we wake up, we know that our lives are a small, yet important contribution to this composition. We do not exist in isolation, and we are part of a whole. A whole which turns out to be fake; deconstructed and reconstructed, taking away our natural roots, and replacing it by plastic and concrete constructions. Our parents and grandparents were so concerned with “progress”, forgetting the definitions and the implications of the changes they were working so hard to instill.
What have you created? Don’t you see? We live in a world that is alienated. Urban centers packed with people, and all their man made toys, make up our every-day experiences. More people, more cars, more buildings, more airplanes, more factories, bigger factories, bigger cars, bigger houses, newer, shinier, stronger, faster, better. Aha! “We are the generation of progress”, you dare to think. “We are the generation of freedom, the generation detached from nature, who improved technology and gave you all these luxuries”. But do you believe you could ever outrun nature by creating this technologic utopia, you, the ingenious human? Could your plastic creations ever serve you as nature has done for a million years? Or has the result of making everything a commodity made your transactions easier? Be careful of the words you use, think twice, because your lack of thinking has brought us in this mess.
We object to this life you created. We do not accept you, my parents, my grandparents, as creators of this world. We do not accept your practices that ruin the environment, that kill millions of animals, and if not, destroy their natural environment. Who granted you this power? You and your ancestors arrogantly stole it, by believing - and you really did believe it - that you were to create a world controlled by humans, a world were natural resources are never enough, a world that will soon have to leave this planet if you continue feeding your greed with your attempts for “progress”.
Nobody dares to speak up. And they do not, because your work extends to creating representations of the ideal. Representations in which everyone believes. You have created dreams, hopes based on nothing more than paper, and quantified every value and every moment. You have neglected the environment, but you have also neglected its people. You are so concerned with money, that you are fuelling culture, and predominantly media, design, and fashion, with standards; unattainable standards of the “to be”. An idealized state that a human being can only attain if he follows the prescribed lifestyle you have so skillfully created. Beautiful people, beautiful lives, beautiful cities, but empty souls. And an environment that’s biting back. The plan? To be educated, to be competitive, to lose all contact with the environment, to consume, to feel frustrated that more is never enough.

We rejects your beliefs. We condemn your progress, and we are not going to accept the distorted representations your culture is constantly spamming. We respect nature, and we refrain from consuming the overly processed products that educated people worked so hard for. We will not kill or exploit animals for you. Not for our clothes, not for our food, not for warmth, not for furniture. We will not continue destroying the environment, which nature has so generously shared with us all these years. Our life-style is zero-waste. We will make our own clothes, our own products. And we will be educated close to nature, learning from real life, not just the books and typified material you provide. And finally, we will not follow your neurotic need for reaching your fake ideals. We do not follow your imposed standards of style; we denounce your fascism, we believe in diversity, and we will support individual expression through one’s body, for which we claim ownership and which can never be detached from our identity.
We create, but not to progress.
We create to live
to share and
to grow as
individuals!
